Virgin Gorda Rum is a blend of rums from the British Caribbean islands, Barbados, Trinidad and Jamaica, produced by distilling fermented cane sugar in stills. After distillation, the rums undergo an aging process in old American bourbon barrels. Adding 20% of 8-year-old rum to the blend results in an average aging of 7 years.
Unlike most rums, Virgin Gorda is completely natural: no coloring or flavoring is added.
Trinidad provides the characteristic notes of vanilla, Jamaica provides body and character with molasses, Barbados provides the strong wood characteristic of aging.
